A WORD FROM OUR MODERATOR BRAZOS RIVER PRESBYTERY “HAPPY NEW YEAR”
Brothers and Sisters,
As we enter into another year as a presbytery, it gives me great pleasure as moderator to wish you a Happy New Year! In this coming year we will continue with our theme, "If It Is Not Broken - Break It" Hosea 10:12; Galatians 6: 7, 8 and advance the policy of this presbytery.
For some of you, the past year has meant unemployment, diagnosis, illnesses, and distress. It has been an uncertain year as the economy sang a different tune and the rapid growth in our community slowed tremendously. But the one certainty of life is that things do change. It is in the midst of change that we seek to keep our eyes on our mission and purpose and just strive for faithfulness, trusting that “The Lord Will Provide.”
It is true for Brazos River Presbytery as well. This past year of “2010” proved to be a year of turmoil, uncertainty, decision making and pain, yet it was a year of blessings as well. Paul said in Philippians 3: 13: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, so we found ourselves being faithful to our God, and continued to love one another and participate in the love of Jesus Christ.
By the grace of God we have completed the year 2010. We thank God for God’s presence with us throughout the year. But now we have a new year to look forward to. Things are looking like continued blessings.
As we look forward to having a Happy New Year in 2011, please be mindful of all the events our year will bring. Please continue to visit our website of calendar events and remember to register for the June 6-8 General Assembly hosted in Dallas, TX.
Peace and blessings,
Rev. Elton C. Hall
